Siesta time in Santiago

Santiago de Compostela is a photographers dream.

Turn a corner and there is a statue....a water fountain.

A Plaza with no tourists.

Incredible statues.

A church is tucked in a corner.

A rare photo of Deb trying the local wines and actually order on her very own.
Muy bien Debbie.
(Very good)

Anyone want to have a 30 second  'Dance Party?'

A fun sign I spied above a bar in the city.

It's siesta time from 2:00-4:00 pm in this city everyday.

A siesta is by definition a short nap taken in the afternoon.
The Spaniards take a nap after a busy morning, then return to their shops and stay open later.  It is very common in warmer climates.  With a midday heavy meal and the sleepiness that follows, it is a welcome respite.
The health benefits of this are improved mood, increased alertness, lower blood pressure, enhanced creativity, great for the psyche.
I love naps.

But if we stay awake....we have the entire city to ourselves.
Buenas noches Santiago.
