"It Was A Rainy Day"....on the Camino, Barbadelo to Ferreiros

It was about 8 am when we started out this morning in the dark.  The photo above was taken probably 45 minutes into our journey.

Can't get lost...really....these markers are all the way along.  There are also yellow arrows pointing you in the right direction.

Since it is almost like a Rainforest with the mist and moisture, you can imagine there are adorable toadstools everywhere.

Didn't wear my wellies sooooooo taking the high road.

Two new friends....we met in the dark.  We could hear them calling us before we could see them.

Pumpkin patches.....I think kale farms?  Dark, black, rich earth.....and smells like sheep poop....
I LOVE THIS WALK!
Reminds me of when we lived on farmland near Leamington, Ontario.

The rain doesn't dampen the pilgrim spirit.  We are greeted with 'hola' every time a pilgrim passes us on the Camino.  We are heading down hill here....but almost the whole way, today, was uphill.

Bessie loved having her photo taken.  She was busy eating....but peeked at me for a shot.

Just in the nick of time....a cafe.
In the middle of nowhere.

'Dos capuchinos y dos medias lunas per favor.' Grazia.

Below is a grain storage hut or Horreos.  In the region we are walking, Galicia, they are manmade to store grain.  They were used to store corn as well.
They dot all the farms we have seen today.
Long and narrow, they are elevated on legs, and apparently the soffit underneath is rodent proof.
Traditionally made of granite however we saw many made of brick today.
The roofs are tiled with a cross at either end.
Very different from anything we have seen.

"It's a dangerous business Frodo, going out of your door.  You step into the road and if you don't keep your feet there is no telling where you might be swept off to."

Stunning, misty, rainy morning.....GORGEOUS.

Random acts of kindness.
This is based on an honour system.  In front of this Spanish homestead, baked goods and fruit are laid out for the pilgrims...you leave a donation, after you chose something delicious to eat.....in good faith.
I love this.

Ancient stone walls decorate the vast pasture lands.

Gigantic tree branches reach all the way to the other side of this wide path.....vines and moss almost engulfing them.
Watch out LD!!!!
