It's A Looooonnnnnggggg Way Up today, Portomarin to Gonzar

Leaving Portomarin.....on this incredibly beautiful morning
You could see for miles.
Today is almost all up hill.....over 700 meter in altitude......yikes.

Farmers are still gardening and bringing in a huge harvest....it's Autumn here.

Way up and keep going way up.......
Our first 2-3 kilometers today were an ascent......

Photos never do justice to the morning sun peeking through the trees.

I am starting to consider taking my sweater off.
It got up to 21 Celsius.  Quite warm.

At this point, we hadn't found anywhere to stop for a pit stop....sooooo....we just plopped down on the grass along the Camino with this amazing view in front of us.

A lovely spot to relax in the Weeping Willow trees.

This actually happens a few times on the Camino......two signs with opposing arrows?
Sometimes it is a scenic walk or a less strenuous walk.

We arrive at our destination, Gonzar and were surprised to find that the hostel we were going to stay at is actually closed.  Two pilgrims told us there was another Auberge Hostel (for only 8 Euros each) just about 600 meters up the road.

Twenty four bed room.
When we arrived we were the only two with the entire dorm to ourselves.
Showered, had a nap, relaxed.
When we returned after dinner......it was full.

This teeny tiny village looked almost abandoned.  With that said, I have to say we had THE best dinner and evening there of our stay to date.
Our hostel didn't have food but the Casa Garcia was the place to be.

Deb had this huge piece of salmon, I had steak, we each had salad/soup, with an entire bottle of white wine (Coke Zero for me), and dessert.......20 Euros in total!!!!!
It would be well over $100. in Canada.
Wow.....
